Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Yarrow Conch - Aethes smeathmanniana.

Yarrow Conch - Aethes smeathmanniana. A micro moth species from the family of Yponomeutidae, subfamily Yponomeutinae. The moth has a wingspan of 12 to 19 mm. The ground colour of this moth varies from whitish to yellowish, but the species differs from several related species by its narrower forewings. The 'V' shaped markings are of a rust colour. The species' habitat is grassy areas where Yarrow is present. This moth is on the wing from May through to August or September. The species’ life history shows that the larvae feed on the seeds of yarrow and knapweeds. Widely distributed throughout England, Wales, and Scotland. This species is classified as local in the UK.
