Thistle Bell or Thistle Root-borer - Epiblema scutulana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae, subfamily Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of about 22 to 24mm. Part of a difficult species group to examine. Colt's-foot Bell or Colt's-foot Root-borer Epiblema sticticana and Knapweed Bell or Knapweed Root-borer - Epiblema cirsiana. This species’ habitat is where its food plant grows. This moth is on the wing from June to July and can be attracted to light. The species’ life history is as its name suggests, the larval foodplants are various types of Thistles. The species is Fairly widespread and It is classified as common.
