Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Sharp-winged Drill - Dichrorampha acuminatana.

Sharp-winged Drill - Dichrorampha acuminatana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae , subfamily Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of about 10 o 15 mm. At first glance, this species appears rather nondescript but, when viewed closely, has a subtle mix of sub-metallic and chestnut markings. This species’ habitat is grassland containing the larval foodplants Oxeye Daisy and Tansy. This moth has two generations, firstly on the wing in April and May and then again in August or September. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed on Oxeye Daisy and Tansy. Like other Dichrorampha species, the larvae burrow into the rootstock and feed within. This species classified as local in the UK.
