Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Rush Veneer - Nomophila noctuella

Rush Veneer - Nomophila noctuella A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae, subfamily Spilomelinae. The moth has a wingspan of 26 to 32 mm. When at rest, this moth has a very elongated and narrow shape, which makes it easily recognisable. The habitat of these well-known migrants is often to be found in large numbers at coastal watchpoints but can also be found inland. The moth is on the wing from June to July. It can sometimes be seen in the afternoon sunshine, and it comes to light later at night. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed on Clover and various grasses. A common and widespread immigrant. The species is classified as Migrant in the UK.
