Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Rosy-striped Knot-horn - Oncocera semirubell

Rosy-striped Knot-horn - Oncocera semirubella . A micro moth species from the family of Pyralidae, subfamily Pyralinae. The moth has a wingspan of 17 to 29 mm. A beautifully coloured little moth, with pink and yellow forewings, sometimes exhibiting a whitish stripe along the leading edge of the forewing. Its habitats are chalk downland and limestone cliffs. The moth is on the wing from June to July. It can sometimes be seen in the afternoon sunshine, and it comes to light later at night. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed on Bird's-foot-trefoil and Clover, forming silken solid tubes. The species occurs mainly in the southernmost counties of England and some eastern coastal areas. The species is classified as Nationally Scarce B in the UK.
