Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Privet Tortrix - Clepsis consimilana

Privet Tortrix - Clepsis consimilana A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae , subfamily Tortricinae . The moth has a wingspan of 10 to 14 mm. One of the plainer looks of the Tortricidae, the female is even more indistinctly marked than the male. Two small darker spots on the reddish-brown forewing's hind edge help distinguish this species. Its preferred habitats are various, including parks and gardens. The moth is on the wing from June to September and comes to light. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed on trees such as Privet, preferring dead leaves. Widespread in England and Wales but less well recorded further north. The species is classified as common in the UK.
