Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Plum Tortrix - Hedya pruniana.

Plum Tortrix - Hedya pruniana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae, subfamily Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of 14 to 16 mm. This species closely resembles the Marbled Orchard Tortrix - Hedya nubiferana but can be distinguished by the difference in position of the two blackish dots on the white of the forewing. Its preferred habitats are woodland, hedgerows and gardens. This moth is on the wing in May and July.. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed in the stems of woodrush during the early spring. A widespread species and is classified as common in the UK.
