Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Plain Fanner - Glyphipterix fuscoviridella.

Plain Fanner - Glyphipterix fuscoviridella. A micro moth species from the family of Glyphipterigidae , subfamily Glyphipteriginaee. The moth has a wingspan of 14 to 16 mm. A relatively plain pale buff species with a slight metallic sheen. Its preferred habitats are dry grassland and flower meadows, especially where the larval foodplant is present. This moth is on the wing in May and June and can be found flying during the day. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed in the stems of woodrush during the early spring. It is relatively frequent in England and Wales but only extends north to southern Scotland. The species is classified as common in the UK.
