Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Pale-streaked Grass-moth - Agriphila selasella.

Pale-streaked Grass-moth - Agriphila selasella. A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae , subfamily Crambinae. The moth has a wingspan of 26 mm. Although superficially resembling Agriphila tristella, this species has a more squared forewing tip, a much-reduced facial cone and a whiter longitudinal streak that doesn't have quite such obvious 'fingers' at the rear. Its preferred Habitats are often associated with coastal habitats, though not exclusively. This moth is on the wing during July and August. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed in a silken gallery on grasses, including Common Saltmarsh grass and Sheep's Fescue. It is a local species in England, Wales, southern Scotland, and Ireland, and it is classified as local in the UK.
