Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Pale Straw Pearl - Udea lutealis .

Pale Straw Pearl - Udea lutealis . A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae, subfamily Spilomelinae. The moth has a wingspan of 23 to 26mm. This is relatively easily recognised by the pale, creamy forewings, darker cross-lines and outlined shapes. Its preferred habitats are on waste ground, gardens, and woodland edges. This moth is on the wing between July and August. The species’ life history is that the larvae live in the spring on various herbaceous plants, including Bramble. It is widespread throughout the UK. The species status is classified as common in the UK.
