Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Pale Lettuce Bell - Eucosma conterminana.

Pale Lettuce Bell - Eucosma conterminana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae, subfamily Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of 15 to 19mm. The British Eucosma species can be a difficult group to identify, but conterminana is more distinctive, having a pale sandy ground colour and a creamy dorsal blotch. Its preferred habitats are dry and stony or chalky areas. This moth is on the wing in July and August when light can attract them. The species’ life history is the larvae feed on Prickly Lettuce, Great Lettuce and cultivated forms of lettuce. Because of this, it is sometimes found around arable areas. It occurs locally in the south and southeast of England. The species status is classified as local in the UK.
