Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Orange Crest - Helcystogramma rufescens

This reddish-brown species inhabits a range of habitats. Its preferred habitat is rough pastures, unimproved grassland, downland, and woodland rides. This moth is on the wing in June and August. The species’ life history is the spectacular larvae, with dramatic black and white patterning, overwintering on several types of grass, especially small wood-reed and false-brome. Occurs reasonably frequently in England, Wales and southern Ireland. The species is classified as common in the UK.
