Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Marsh Grey or Pallid Grey - Eudonia pallida

Marsh Grey or Pallid Grey - Eudonia pallida. A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae , from the subfamily Scopariinae. The moth has a wingspan of around 18 mm. The palest of the British Scopariinae is quite distinctive, although care must be taken not to confuse small, worn specimens of related species. The moths' Habitat is varied but they prefer damp situations such as fens or marshes. The species are on the wing during June and July. The species’ life history is similar to a number of other British Pyralidae. The early stages are not well described, but it is believed to feed on mosses or lichens at ground level. It has been reared from larvae amongst the moss. It is widespread over much of the UK. This species is classified as common in the UK.
