Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Hook-streak Grass-veneer - Crambus lathoniellus.

Hook-streak Grass-veneer - Crambus lathoniellus. A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae, subfamily Crambinae. The moth has a wingspan of 20 mm. The whitish streaks on this moth are narrower than other similar species and the males are darker than the females. This moth can be found on the wing from May through to August. One of the earliest Crambids to be seen during the year. Flies naturally at night, though it is easily disturbed in the daytime. Its habitats are like several similar species; the moth is to be found in grassy areas. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed on various types of grass stems. This species is widespread and classified as common in the UK.
