Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Dusky Pearl - Udea prunalis.

Dusky Pearl - Udea prunalis. A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae, subfamily Spilomelinae. The moth has a wingspan of 20 to 24 mm. Quite a dark species overall but characterised by the distinctive whitish underbody and legs. Its habitats are various, but it is particularly associated with Blackthorn. This moth can be found on the wing in June and July. This nocturnal species is easily disturbed from its resting place by day. The species' life history is that the larvae feed on a wide range of herbaceous plants. This species is classified as common in the UK.
