Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Dark Fruit-tree Tortrix - Pandemis heparana.

Dark Fruit-tree Tortrix - Pandemis heparana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae , sub family Tortricinae. The moth has a wingspan of 16 to 24 mm. Its habitat is Oak woodland, orchards, and gardens. This moth can be found on the wing from between June and August, later in the North. The species' life history is sometimes called 'leaf-rollers', the larvae of many of this family living in 'spinnings' where a leaf is rolled around and attached with silk. The larvae feed on various fruit and other deciduous trees. This species is widespread and classified as a common species in the UK.
