Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Cyclamen Tortrix - Clepsis spectrana.

Cyclamen Tortrix - Clepsis spectrana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae , sub family Tortricinae. The moth has a wingspan of 16 to 22 mm. This is a very variable species. The ground colour of the forewing ranges from creamy yellow to rich chestnut-brown or dark brown. However, it usually shows a similar pattern of darker markings. The costa of the male's wing is distinctly convex, while on the female, the distal half of the costa is slightly concave. It occurs in various habitats but prefers lush vegetation in damp conditions, including wet woodland, marshes, bogs and coastal saltings. It flies between early May and September but is commonest in mid-June. The species' life history is the larvae feed on the spun leaves and flowers of various herbaceous plants. Full-grown larvae are most often found in May and June This species is widespread and classified as a common species in the UK.
