Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Cream-bordered Green Pea - Earias clorana

Cream-bordered Green Pea - Earias clorana . A micro moth species from the family of Nolidae , sub family Chloephorinae. The moth has a wingspan of Wingspan 16 to 20 mm. A small but distinctive green species, only likely to be confused with the micro Tortrix viridana, which however rests with a much 'flatter' aspect. Its favoured habitat is fens, marshes, and damp woodland. The moths can be found on the wing in May and June, sometimes there is a second generation in August. The species' life history is the larvae feed on various willows including Osier. UK Status for this species is Common and widespread. it was formerly Nationally Scarce B, but has gradually increased in numbers over the last 30 plus years.
