Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Common Tubic- Alabonia geoffrella.

Common Tubic- Alabonia geoffrella. A micro moth species from the family of Oecophoridae , sub family Oecophorinae. The moth has a wingspan of 17 to 21 mm. A spectacular day-flying species, mostly seen at sunrise. Males have the characteristic rising and falling flight. With its combination of rufous, white, and metallic blue markings and remarkably large labial palps. Its habitat combines deciduous woodland margins, old mixed hedgerows, and marshy places. This moth can be found on the wing during May and June. This species is widespread in England and Wales..and classified as a common species in the UK.
