Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Common Cloaked Shoot-Gypsonoma dealbana.

Common Cloaked Shoot-Gypsonoma dealbana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae, sub family Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of Wingspan 11-14 mm. General ground colour and markings can vary from white to brownish/grey, making the markings obscure. The buff frons can easily separate it from Gypsonoma sociana -White Cloaked Shoot or Mottled White Tortrix. Its favoured habitat is in well-wooded areas. The moths can be found on the wing in July and August when they fly from dusk onwards. The species' life history is that the larvae feed on a range of deciduous tree leaves in autumn and eat the buds, catkins, young shoots, and then spun leaves in the spring. It is widespread and classified as a common species in the UK.
