Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Chequered Pearl - Evergestis pallidata.

Chequered Pearl - Evergestis pallidata. A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae , sub family Glaphyriinae. The moth has a wingspan of 24 to 29 mm. A reasonably distinctive moth with pale, creamy wings laced with dark brown markings. The moths can be found on the wing between June and August when they are attracted to light. It prefers various habitats, including damp open woodland and other damp areas. The species' life history is that the larva feeds on various Brassicaceae, particularly Winter-cress (Barbarea vulgaris). This species is distributed in the southern half of England to the Midlands, occurs in Scotland and Ireland, and is classified as a common species in the UK.
