Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Bright Bell - Eucosma hohenwartiana

Bright Bell or Common Knapweed Tortrix - Eucosma hohenwartiana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae, sub family Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of 11 to 23 mm. One of several similar species and care is needed with identification. A common inhabitant of dry, open and grassy areas. The moths can be found on the wing from June to August. The species' life history is that the larvae feed inside the flowerheads of knapweed and saw-wort. It is found over most of the UK except for parts of Scotland. It is classified as a common species in the UK.
