Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Box-tree Moth - Cydalima perspectalis

Box-tree Moth - Cydalima perspectalis A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae , sub family Spilomelinae. The moth has a wingspan of Wingspan 38 to 42mm It is a distinctive species which should be recognised without difficulty, although there is also a very dark brown form. spread and The moths can be found on the wing from dusk into the night, between June and August; the adult is easily attracted to light. Its favoured habitat is associated with Box, Buxus. The moth is a pest species of box Buxus and is almost certainly an introduction with imported Buxus plants. The first record for Britain seems to be from Kent in 2007, and in the Butterfly Conservation's Microlepidoptera Report 2011, this species was classified as adventive. https://www.thegrangecl.co.uk/newsite/
