Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

White Plume - Pterophorus pentadactyla.

White Plume - Pterophorus pentadactyla. A micro moth species from the family of Pterophoridae , subfamily Pterophorinae. The moth has a wingspan of 26 to 34 mm. Probably the most distinctive of the 'Plume' moths and one of the largest. Its wings are divided into several 'fingers', each finely feathered, or plumed. The species' habitat is dry grassland, waste ground, and gardens. This moth is on the wing in June and July, flies from dusk onwards and sometimes has a second generation in September. The species’ life history is the caterpillars overwinter and feed on Bindweed. This species is classified as common in the UK.
