Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Small Grey - Eudonia mercurella.

Small Grey - Eudonia mercurella. A micro moth species from the family of Crambidae, subfamily Scopariinae . The moth has a wingspan of about 16 o 19 mm. Its similarity to several other species makes it difficult to identify. This species’ habitat is woodland, parks, and gardens. This moth is easily attracted to light and is on the wing from June to September but can be disturbed from their daytime resting places of tree trunks and rocks etc. The species’ life history is that the larvae like many of its congeners, feed on mosses growing on tree trunks and walls. A common species to be found in most of Britain and is classified as common in the UK.
