I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Large Lance-wing - Epermenia falciformis.

Large Lance-wing - Epermenia falciformis. A micro moth species from the family of Epermeniidae , subfamily Epermeniinae. The moth has a wingspan of 9 to 11 mm. A relatively distinctive and well-marked species being patterned in buffs and browns with odd dark marks. Note the tufts along the back. This moth can be found on the wing in two generations, from June to July and again in August and September. Its preferred habitat is in moist habitats, marshes, and water margins. The species’ life history is that the larvae feed on Wild Angelica or Ground-elder feeding in spun leaves or mining the stems. Distributed locally in the southern half of England. It also occurs sporadically in parts of Wales. and classified as Local in the UK.
