Dotted Ermel - Ethmia dodecea. A micro moth species from the family of Plutellidae. The moth has a wingspan of 13 to 15 mm. A distinctive moth with a "diamond" like pattern along its back. Its habitat is all types throughout the British Isles, becoming established under favourable conditions when occasionally reaching plague proportions on farms where cabbages are grown. This moth can be found on the wing between May and September when two or more generations occur. The species' life history is that the larva feeds on the leaves of certain types of vegetables and weeds. This species is a common immigrant from mainland Europe.
