Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Common Marble- Celypha lacunana.

Common Marble- Celypha lacunana. A micro moth species from the family of Tortricidae , sub family Olethreutinae. The moth has a wingspan of 14 to 18mm. Although extremely variable, this species can usually be distinguished from its near relatives by the strong indentation or lacuna in the median fascia above the middle and in dark forms this indentation tends to become obscure but is seldom totally obliterated. Its habitat it can often be disturbed during the day from vegetation along woodland fringes, verges, grassy fields, and hedges. This moth can be found on the wing from May to August. Later in the evening is the moth's normal flying time when it can be attracted to light. It has quite a long flight period. The species' life history is that the larva feeds on a wide variety of herbaceous plants. This species is widespread and classified as a common species in the UK.
