Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Micro-moths blog and the Macro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Acleris laterana/comariana agg.

Acleris laterana/comariana agg. This moth Is a micro species of the family of Tortricidae subfamily Tortricinae. Acleris laterana and Acleris comariana can be very similar in appearance and records should be added as an aggregate unless identification by genitalia dissection has been undertaken. Acleris comariana is usually smaller and seems to be far less common in Norfolk than the Acleris laterana. The species flight period is August to September for Acleris laterana, and June/July and October/November for Acleris comariana. However, these do overlap, hence the need for genitalia dissection. Acleris laterana is common whilst Acleris comariana is much more local. The UK Status for this species is common.
