White Plume - Pterophorus pentadactyla.

White Plume - Pterophorus pentadactyla. A macro moth species from the family of Pterophoridae sub family Pterophorinae. Probably the most distinctive of the 'Plume' moths and one of the largest. Its wings are deeply divided into several 'fingers', each of which is finely feathered, or plumed. The moth has a wingspan of 26-34 mm. The moth as one generation from June to August. The moth's habitat favours grassland, fens, waste ground and gardens. The caterpillars overwinter and feed on Bindweed. The moth is Unmistakable, and classified nationally as a Common species
