Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

White Ermine - Spilosoma lubricipeda.

The moth is from the family of Erebidae -- subfamily ---- Arctiinae.

It Is a medium-sized macro moth, with a wingspan of 34 to 38 mm.

There is one generation, flying in May to July,

and sometimes later in the south.

The moth's habitat is mainly gardens, hedgerows, grassland, heathland, moorland and woodland.

The species overwinters as a pupa,

In a cocoon formed among plant debris.

The larva appears from July to September.

The hairy larvae feed on a variety of herbaceous plants.

The moth is classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
