Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Tawny Wave - Scopula rubiginata

Tawny Wave - Scopula rubiginata A micro moth species from the family of Geometridae, sub family Sterrhinae. The moth has a wingspan of 9 to 11mm. It is a Scarce Norfolk resident. The Breckland district on the Norfolk/Suffolk border is considered one of the main breeding areas for this species in Britain and is occasionally noted as a migrant. Its preferred habitat is it occurs on heathland and grassland, scrub, and vegetated shingle in heath rides and other open places. The moths can be found on the wing in two Generations from June to July and again from August to September. The species' life history is that the larvae foodplant is unknown in the wild. But they were reared in captivity on Dandelion, Knotgrass, Field Bindweed, various legumes, trefoils and Black Medick. This species is classified as Nationally Scarce.
