Spruce Carpet - Thera britannica.

Spruce Carpet - Thera britannica. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae subfamily Larentiinae. Can be hard to distinguish from Grey Pine Carpet. Triangular, though sometimes seen with wings raised together 'butterfly-like'. Colouring is a mixture of greys, browns, and buffs. The moth has a wingspan of 18-25 mm. The moth as two generations from May to July, and September to November. The moth's habitat is wherever Spruce and Douglas Fir are found. The larva foodplants are Spruce and Douglas Fir. The moth is classified nationally as a Common species in the UK.
