Snout - Hypena proboscidalis.

Snout - Hypena proboscidalis. A macro moth species from the family of Erebidae sub family Hypeninae. Easily recognised by its very long upturned palps or 'snout'. Varies in colours. The moth has a wingspan of 25-38 mm. The moth as two generations from June to Aug and Aug to October. The moth's favours a wide range of habitats, including woodland, scrub, hedgerows, gardens, rough meadows, and marshes. The larva foodplants are Nettles. The moth is widespread and abundant and classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
