Small Yellow Wave - Hydrelia flammeolaria.

Small Yellow Wave - Hydrelia flammeolaria. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae sub family Larentiinae. A diminutive but rather attractive moth with an orangey-yellow patterned wings. The moth has a wingspan of 14-20 mm. The moth as one generation from May to July. The moth's habitat favours woodland and other well wooded areas. The larva foodplants are Field Maple but in the north more commonly on Alder. The moth is classified nationally as a Common species of the UK.
