Purple Bar - Cosmorhoe ocellata.

Purple Bar - Cosmorhoe ocellata. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae subfamily Larentiinae. This smallish member of the 'carpets' has a velvety look to the forewings. The moth has a wingspan of 20 to 25 mm. The moth as two generation from May to July and again from August to September. The moth's habitat favours areas where bedstraws are present. The larvae feed on various types of bedstraws. The moth is classified nationally as a common species in the UK.
