Poplar Grey - Subacronicta megacephala.

Poplar Grey - Subacronicta megacephala. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae sub family Acronictinae. Like the Sycamore moth. Distinctive round stigma and white patch on the forewing, with whitish hindwings. It as a wingspan size of 40 to 44 mm. The moths Habitat favours Woodland, fens, heathland, scrub, grassland, and gardens. The moth as one generation from May to August. The grey-brown caterpillar feeds on the leaves of Poplar, resting by day in a peculiar question-mark position with the head curled back. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
