Peppered Moth - Biston betularia. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae -subfamily -Ennominae. A favourite of genetic studies, this species shows well the phenomenon of industrial melanism, where all-dark individuals became the dominant form in certain parts of northern England. Nowadays, The moth has a wingspan of 35-60 mm. The moth as generation from May to August. The moth frequents a range of habitats. The larvae feed on a range of trees and plants. The moth is classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
