Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Pebble Prominent - Notodonta ziczac.

Pebble Prominent - Notodonta ziczac. A macro moth species from the family of Notodontidae sub family Notodontinae. Typical of the Prominent in outline but with a pale brown wing that has a ringed 'eye-like' pattern near the tip. The moth has a wingspan of 40-45 mm. The moth as generation from The moth frequents a range of habitats but prefers damper localities, where the caterpillars feed on Willow and Poplar. The caterpillar is greyish or brownish and, like most of the Prominent, feeds with the tail segment held up in the air. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
