Pale Eggar - Trichiura crataegi. A macro moth species from the family of Lasiocampidae sub family Poecilocampinae. One of the smaller members of the Lasiocampidae. A grey moth with angular black lined markings. It is quite variable across its range, the more northern forms tending to be darker. The moth has a wingspan of 25 to 30 mm. The moth as one generation from August to September. The moth's habitat favours heathland and the edges of woodland. The larvae feed on a range of plants and trees including Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Bilberry, and Heather. One of the smaller members of the Lasiocampidae The moth is and classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
