Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Mottled Rustic - Caradrina Morpheus

Mottled Rustic - Caradrina Morpheus A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae, sub family Xyleninae. The moth has a wingspan of 32-38 mm. Although superficially similar to several related species, this moth always shows a distinctly significant and dark reniform stigma and is fairly broad-winged. The moth can be found on the wing from June to August, sometimes with a small second brood in October in the south and is frequent at light. The species' life history is larvae feed on several herbaceous plants, especially Nettle and Dandelion. Common to abundant in much of England and Wales, scarcer in Scotland and Ireland. This species is classified as common.
