I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

Mallow - Larentia clavaria.

Mallow - Larentia clavaria. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae subfamily Larentiinae. Forewings are fawn in colour with a browner basal patch The moth has a wingspan of 36 to 40 mm. The moth as one generation from September to November. The moth’s habitat favours a range of suburban habitats, waste ground and ditches or riverbanks. The main larval foodplant is Mallow - Malva sylvestris, but the caterpillars will also eat cultivated hollyhock - Alcea. The moth is classified nationally as a common species in the UK.
