Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Lime-speck Pug - Eupithecia centaureata.

Lime-speck Pug - Eupithecia centaureata. A macro moth species from the family of Geometridae subfamily Larentiinae. A distinctive and slender-winged Pug, it is thought that this species may resemble a bird dropping and thus reduce the attraction to predators. The moth has a wingspan of 16-20 mm. The moth as two generations from April to July and in August to October. The moth occurs in a wide range of habitats. The larva feed on the flowers of a range of low-growing plants. The moth is widespread and classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
