Large Nutmeg - Apamea anceps.

Large Nutmeg - Apamea anceps. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae sub family Xyleninae. Fairly distinctive, with light ochreous forewing often longer and narrower than in other Apamea species. The moth has a wingspan of 35-40 mm. The moth as one generation from June to July and are attracted to light and sugar. The moth’s habitat favours dry pasture and woodland fringes. The larvae feed on grasses, including Annual Meadow-grass and Cock's-foot eating the flowers and leaves. The moth is classified nationally as a local species of the UK.
