Flame Shoulder - Ochropleura plecta.

Flame Shoulder - Ochropleura plecta. The moth is from the family of - Noctuidae -sub family- Noctuinae. It is a medium sized moth with a wingspan 25-30 mm. The moth resembles no other UK species. The English name refers to a bright straw-coloured band running along the leading edge of the forewing, which is further emphasised by the black streak behind it. There are two generations from April to June and again from July-Sept. The larva feed on Herbaceous plants. There are two generations, flying in May and June and again in August and September. The species Habitat is Woodland fringes, gardens, and meadowland. The moth is classed as a common species of the UK.
