Double Square-spot-Xestia triangulum

Double Square-spot - Xestia triangulum From the family Noctuidae, subfamily Noctuinae. It as a wingspan of 36 to 46 mm. Distinctively marked species with unusually square markings on the wings. The species as a single generation flies in June and July and visits light and sugar, as well as certain flowers. Frequenting many habitats including woodland, hedgerows, fens, grassland, heathland and gardens. The polyphagous caterpillars hibernate when quite small and feed in spring on various trees and shrubs. Occurs fairly commonly throughout the British Isles. The UK status for this species is classified as common.
