Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Chamomile Shark - Cucullia chamomillae

Chamomile Shark - Cucullia chamomillae. A macro moth species from the family of Noctuidae , sub family Cuculliinae. The moth has a wingspan of Wingspan 40 to 42 mm. Like the Shark - C. umbratica, it can be told apart by the fringe of the hindwing, which has a darker central line running through the centre, forming a triple-banded effect. In The Shark - C. umbratica, the fringe is all pale, with a single darker line on the inner edge. Its favoured habitat is on roadside verges, waste ground and commons. The moths can be found on the wing from April to June. The species' life history is the larvae feed on various Scentless plants, Mayweed, chamomiles and Feverfew. This species is classified as local. throughout England, Wales, and southern Scotland, but is rarer further north. Local in Ireland.
