I’m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Buff-tip - Phalera bucephala

Buff-tip - --Phalera bucephala.

The moth is from the family of Notodontidae—Subfamily—Phalerinae.

It Is medium-sized macro moth, with a wingspan of 42 to 45 mm.

When at rest, this species' create a remarkable resemblance to a broken twig of Silver Birch.

The moth as one generation and its flight season are from May to July.

The moth's habitat is mainly mixed woodland.

It overwinters as a pupa underground in an earthen cell.

The Larva appears from July to early-October.

The Larva hatch from large batches of eggs,

feeding firstly in groups throughout the day and night.

Then later, singly.

The species feeds on broadleaved trees Birches, sallows, oaks and Hazel.

The moth is classed as common throughout of the UK.
