Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

Brown Rustic-Rusina ferruginea

Brown Rustic, Rusina ferruginea.

The moth is from the family of Noctuidae, subfamily Xyleninae.

It Is a medium-sized macro moth,

with a wingspan of 32 to 40 mm.

The moth as one generation and its flight season is from June to July.

It then overwinters as a larva almost fully grown from August to May.

Feeding at night and hides in leaf litter by day.

It then pupates in an underground cocoon.

The moth's habitat is mainly woodland, heathland, scrub, grassland and moorland.

The moth is a resident common species throughout most of the UK
