Hello, from Steve Garten and welcome to my weird and wonderful world of moths.

Iā€™m amateur Lepidopterist, I trap and record moth species on my six acre wildlife meadow at Tibenham Norfolk, UK.

The list of moths listed in this Macro-moths blog and the Micro Moths blog are the species I have recorded since 2015.

Blue-bordered Carpet-Plemyria rubiginata. My Weird & Wonderful World of Moths.

Blue-bordered Carpet, (Plemyria rubiginata).

is a moth from the family of Geometridae, subfamily Larentiinae ,

The moth is a small sized, macro species, with a wingspan of 22 to 28 mm.

The blue or blue-grey border on the forewing's outer edge is what gives this species its name.

There is one generation, flying from June to August.

The moth habitats are where its foodplants occur, woodland, damp areas and gardens.

It overwinters as an egg, in the fork of a twig on the foodplant.

The larva appears from late-April to early June.

It pupates in a slight cocoon on the foodplant.

The moth is classified nationally as a common species of the UK.
